11th-16th May 2015: Stopover of the Command and Replenishment ship Le Var in Dar es Salaam
The Command and Replenishment ship Le Var made a stopover in Dar es Salaam from the 11th to the 16th of May 2015. This French ship is currently committed in an international operation of maritime security operations dubbed “Combined Maritime Forces”, under The United States’s lead, and mainly operating in the northern part of the Indian Ocean and off the Somali coasts.
More specifically, Le Var participates in the anti-terrorism section of this operation (called TF150), which France is leading until the 30th of July 2015.
Therefore, a navy officer, the Naval Captain Crignola, commands the different ships of this force. His military staff was on board during his visit in Dar es Salaam,
Captain Crignola had the opportunity to dialogue with the Tanzanian Navy Authorities.
A cocktail was also organized on board, which brought together Tanzanian navy, the diplomatic service and the French community.
