A strong involvement of French and Tanzanian universities for the new edition of France – East Africa Higher Education and Research meeting [fr]
For the second successive year, Campus France organized in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania the East African tour on French Higher Education. It aims at promoting French Higher Education and Research.
Held under the auspices of Campus France and implemented in close cooperation with the Embassy of France to Tanzania, the Alliance française of Dar Es Salaam and the main universities of Tanzania, the 2018 French Higher Education and Research meeting unfolded in Tanzania 15th and 16th of March 2018. Seven French institutions took part in this new edition: the French Institute for Agronomy, Veterinary and Forestry (AGREENIUM), Paris School of Business, the Higher Institute of Applied Arts (LISAA), University of Reunion Island, University of Lyon 2, IDRAC Business School and INSEEC U Business School.
The opening ceremony was highlighted by the attendance of the Deputy Minister for Education, Sciences and Technology, Hon. William Tate Ole Nasha (MP) along with the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Education, Sciences and Technology, Dr. Leonard Akwilapo. The General Director of the Tanzania Comission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), Dr. Amos Muhunda Nungu also said a few words.
The Tanzanian authorities agreed that this kind of operation is a great opportunity to build sustainable partnerships that will help to reach the goals established by the President Magufuli in the fields of education and higher education i.e. getting a broader access to higher education and strengthening skills of students in order to boost their access to the labour market.
This edition brought many universities representatives and many students. Eight Tanzanian universities and institutes among the most important in the country were presents: University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) that hosted the second day of the meeting, Dar es salaam university college of education (DUCE), Institute of Finance Management (IFM), Open University of Tanzania (OUT), Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), University of Dodoma (UDOM), State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), National College of Tourism (NCT).
On the occasion, a reception was held on Thursday 15th at the French Residence where the French Ambassador to Tanzania confirmed once again committent of France to Higher Education and Research as well as its continued active support to France-Tanzanian cooperation initiatives.
