Facing our time, The night of ideas [fr]
Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 18:00, The Embassy of France to Tanzania and the Alliances françaises in Dar Es salaam and Arusha are organizing for the first time a big debate called "The night of ideas". True intellectual and artistic marathon unfolding at the same time in more than 70 different countries. It will bring together stakeholders from all walks of life - researchers, artists, civil society and private actors invited to debate and perform in partner venues of the event on five continents.
The 2019 edition is divided into two events in two places of Tanzanian cultural life:
"Plastic Waste, oceans say stop. What about us? “ For a big debate as well as a projection which will be held the French alliance of Dar es Salaam. The evening will be moderated by five speakers, from the public and private sectors, as well as from the research and civil society sectors, who will discuss the impact of plastic waste pollution on climate change, biodiversity and health.
You can also visit the "up-cycling" exhibition, which presents various original creations made of recycled materials.
A cocktail will be offered
"What does it mean to be African today?" Declination of the theme Facing the present which will be held at the French alliance of Arusha in which 8 artists from the visual arts and performing arts are invited to exchange after a performance their vision with the public in a dynamic of questioning and interactivity.
They will be led by Tanzanian artist Rukia K, who explores the power of performance, reminding her compatriots that freedom of expression is not a luxury for foreigners.
