Regular contacts exist between the French Embassy in Tanzania and Tanzanian universities.
The French Embassy associates Tanzanian university academics to the events it organises. As an example, professors and students of Ardhi University participated in the debate on green architecture and sustainable development that was organised in February 2016, while students and professors of the History Department of the University of Dar es Salaam attended in great numbers the debate ‘Writing History: reality and misperceptions’ in April 2016.
Through projects financed by the Priority Solidarity Fund (FSP), the Embassy promotes the learning of French in the East African Community. In particular, it has created partnerships with the Open University of Tanzania as well as the Zanzibar Institute for Tourism Development ( ZIToD). In addition, a regional interuniversity conference will be organised in October in Arusha to develop common strategies in the teaching of French in the region (Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania).
