French – Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce and Sahara Accelerator Partner to support Tanzanian Start-Ups
Dar Es Salaam, March 09, 2023. French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce (FTCC) and Sahara Accelerator signed, today, in Dar Es Salaam, a Convention in which they decide to encourage partnerships between French and Tanzanian companies. The Convention, which was signed in presence of H.E. Nabil Hajlaoui, French Ambassador to Tanzania aims, to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship in Tanzania through new opportunities for start-up entrepreneurs who benefit from mentorship and exposure to French investors. Through this partnership, French companies will benefit from the creativity of Tanzanian start-ups and knowledge of local market.
French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce (FTCC) was established in 2019, with support of the French Embassy in Tanzania and five French companies (Total Energies, Engie, Maurel & Prom, AGS, and Bolloré). FTCC assists French entrepreneurs and well established companies in France upon their landing in Tanzania for investing ; a way forwards to a friendly business climate and for more economic opportunities for France and Tanzania. FTCC is affiliated to the CCI France International which is a solid group of 125 French bilateral Chambers in 95 Countries.
Sahara Accelerator supports startup initiatives in Tanzania through services such as mentorship, training, networking opportunities, access to funding, and workspace which help the startups to grow from their early stages as incubators and to expand. Sahara Accelerator’s main support is to help the startups to refine their business models, develop new products, build-up a sound customer basis and to connect to investors.
The French embassy in Tanzania supports start-ups through project “Innoversity”. This project is a Two years’ initiative, funded by the French Embassy in Tanzania and is implemented by Sahara Accelerator. Its main goal is to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship through support to innovation hubs in three universities in Tanzania (Sokoine University of Agriculture, the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology and the University of Iringa).
